The topdressing season has begun and more and more people are asking me about linear aeration and how it works. Linear aertion is a new tool that will be used in place of core aeration because it allows the user to do the topdressing first and then the aeration. This is important because after you are done with the aeration process the job is complete and you do not have to drive back over the turf and compact it. After all with linear aeration you combined processes. The topdressing material is already on the field, now you go over it with the linear aerator which decompacts the soil aerates and blends the topdressing material with the native soil and then the reciprocating fingers on the back of the machine move the combined material back into the grooves to complete the process.
