Fall is aproaching fast and it will soon be time to start your fall turf program. The Brampton News, a Canadian news paper, just published an article in their September 8th issue quoting from Peel Health, “A healthy lawn and garden don’t need pesticides. Taking steps to ensure your lawn is healthy in the fall will lay a foundation for a beautiful lawn next year.” The article says in September and October take the following steps. 1. Aerate your lawn, this helps get water and nutrients to the root system. 2. Spread grass seed for healthy thick grass. 3. Fertilize using a slow release fertilizer with higher potassium and phosphorous and lower nitrogen. 4. Topdress with organic matter.
