The June 22, 2007 issue of ”The Kiplinger Letter”, spent the total first page of their newsletter talking about the shortage we will see in the water supply and some things that are being done to help. Unfortunately they forgot one thing that solves two problems, Topdressing sports fields and lawns with Compost. Compost in itself is a recycled product that helps to reuse green waste, manures, and biosolids which helps our environment. In addition when Compost is used to topdress turf areas it helps the soil retain valuable water and reduces the amount of water used for irrigation. Water is important to all of us and is more important than all the excitement about global warming or cooling. Let’s face it the temperature can be warmer or colder but if we don’t have a good supply of water our lives are over anyway.
